WORCESTER – A free workshop in Worcester on Thursday, June 6, will answer questions and provide information on rules for creating accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in Worcester.

The Worcester City Council voted to approve a new ordinance in December that allows one additional, self-contained housing unit of up to 900 square feet on residential lots with three or fewer dwelling units.

Brian Carmody moderates the workshop with the following guest speakers:

  • Peter Dunn – Chief Development Officer, City of Worcester
  • John Harrison – Owner, Brittivia Construction
  • Evangeline Bates – Owner, Evangeline Interiors
  • Avi Kaufman – Co-Founder, Accent Realty
  • Barbara Yanke – Senior VP, Fidelity Bank

The discussions will center around strategy development, navigating red tape, and how to get started with an ADU.

The event is free and begins at 6 PM at the Hilton Garden Inn, at 35 Major Taylor Blvd.
