Academy forward Michael Adu-Poku will continue his development in men’s football with Maidstone United after joining the National League South club on loan.

The 18-year-old will link up with his new side until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Stones currently sit fifth in the sixth-tier of English football and will be looking to cement their place in the play-off places by continuing their great run of form.

They have won their previous three matches, keeping clean sheets in each of these, and travel to Eastbourne Borough today (Friday March 29, 3pm KO).

Maidstone, who enjoyed a fairytale run to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup this term, also recently secured their place in the final of the Kent Senior Cup with a penalty shoot-out victory over Dartford.

Adu-Poku joined Watford in September 2018 and, after becoming a scholar in the summer of 2022, signed a two-year professional deal with the option for a further year in July 2023.

During his time at the club, the forward has been a regular for the Under-18 side, while also making appearances for the Under-21s.

The striker started against Reading in the Emirates FA Cup third round in the 2022/23 season and made a substitute appearance against Rotherham United in the Sky Bet Championship.

He was previously on loan at Kings Langley in February, making four appearances for the Southern League Division One Central side.

Best of luck, Michael!
