First Affordable Master Plan Home Build Begins – Nevada County (.gov)

The first affordable Housing Master Plan is underway!  We are excited to share the construction process as the owner/builder builds their accessory dwelling unit (ADU) through a series of photos. In these photos, you can see the initial outline for the footings and foundation are taking shape – and the rendering of this model. We appreciate working with this homeowner and can’t wait to see this new ADU come to life.

The plans used for this ADU were a collaboration a year in the making with several local jurisdictions: the City of Grass Valley, the City of Nevada City, the Town of Truckee, the Placer County Government, Nevada County Government, and Sierra County.  The 3 preapproved plans include one to three-bedroom designs ranging from approximately 600 to 1200 square feet. They can be used as primary or secondary dwellings and have various options. The main advantage of preapproved plans is that they save time and money in designing an ADU or home plan set.

For more information about the Housing Master Plans, please visit our website at nevadacountyca.gov/cdahousing. The site highlights the floor plans, design options, and items to consider before you apply. Pricing per plan set is $1200.  Please call the Nevada County Community Development Agency’s Building Department at (530) 265-1222 to ask specific questions about this project.
