REDDING, Calif. – Shasta County has unveiled 7 free and pre-approved accessory dwelling unit (ADU) plans that are available to people in unincorporated areas of the county.
Senior Planner for Shasta County, David Schlegel tells Action News Now that this is all thanks to a grant that was made possible from the recent passage of SB 2.
With the current median price for a home in the area at $415,000 Schlegel says these plans help address the need to offer housing to people in all income levels. He also says that even though these units are on the small side, they are designed to meet county requirements as primary residences.
By taking advantage of these free and pre-approved plans, Schlagel says homeowners can save up to $30,000.
All home plans are available on the county website and at the permit office but all permit applications must be made in person.
