TF’s Adu Highlights Day One of Corky Classic – Baylor – BaylorBears.com

LUBBOCK, Texas – Baylor track and field kicked off Day One of the Corky Classic at Texas Tech’s Sports Performance Center. Victoria Adu recorded the highest finish for the Bears on Friday, winning bronze in the weight throw.  
 
THE RUNDOWN
Opening the day for Baylor, Adu, the 2022 NJCAA weight throw champion, made her way into the final three throws of the event, where she topped out at 59-4 ¾ to win bronze. That mark edges out her 59-1 ½ throw from the McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational.
 
Ukurugenzi Kojo took eighth in the men’s high jump competition after clearing bars at 6-4 ¾ and 6-6 ¾.  In the women’s event, Aicha Moumin and Sydney Smith finished 11th and 13th, respectively. Smith crossed 5-3 ¾ on her third attempt, while Moumin cleared on her first.
 
In the men’s weight throw, Gary Moore Jr. tabbed the third-best performance of his Baylor career in the event, going 65-0 ½ to take fifth place.
 
Parker Brannon improved from the 15-8 ¼ set at his first collegiate meet on Saturday to cross at 16-6 ¾. The true freshman took sixth in the event.
 
UP NEXT
Baylor continues Texas Tech’s Corky Classic on Saturday, with the first event beginning at 10:40 a.m. The meet will be streamed by Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
