Here’s what we know about Sade Adu’s son:
Izaak Theo Adu is Sade’s only child
Izaak is the one and only child of Sade and Jamaican reggae producer Bob Morgan, per Pan African Music. According to Izaak’s website, he was born and raised in London, England, and moved to the country’s southwest region with his parents when he was nine.
There, he attended Steiner School until he turned 13. “Steiner School taught me to see the beauty in nature and what our world has to offer us, and it was there that I developed my deep love for art,” he writes on the profile.
He’s an artist and model
As seen on his website, Izaak is an artist and model. Per his profile, he did a two-year art foundation course at the UK’s SGS College, where he tried his hand in illustration, printmaking, painting, sculpture and photography. He went on to study in the seaside city of Brighton for four years, then joined his dad to work in carpentry and joinery.
Is Izaak Theo Adu married?
According to his website, Izaak currently lives in California with his wife, Emily Margaret Shakeshaft. The New York Times reported that the pair tied the knot in Hawaii in 2021, after initially meeting on Instagram. “I didn’t know anyone transgender and I’ve not seen anyone go through that process,” Shakeshaft told the publication. “I come from a very conservative area and went to conservative schools and it was never really talked about in positive ways.” Per the article, Shakeshaft has long been a fan of Sade’s music too.
His mother supported him through his transition
Izaak was very open about his transition journey, often sharing snippets of the process on social media. It seems his dad has been supportive too.
“My dad always says ‘keep your eyes on the horizon’ and that’s what I do, because through all this pain is the comfort that it’s not forever and I have the rest of my life ahead of me and I am so, so damn excited, I just have to remind myself to be patient sometimes as I’m sure we all do,” he wrote in another caption.
Today, he continues to advocate for the transgender community. In April, he took to Instagram to wish his followers a “Happy Transgender Day of Visibility”.
