An April 2 Edina City Council meeting got a bit tense during a public hearing on a proposed accessory dwelling unit ordinance.
Approved by the Planning Commission, the ordinance would allow lots with single family homes to construct either an internal, attached or detached ADU up to 1,000 square feet. The City Council is expected to make a final vote at an April 16 meeting.
A graphic from an Edina City Council agenda shows the proposed setback requirements for a detached ADU. Councilmember James Pierce suggested adding a screening element to the ordinance to protect neighbors’ privacy. (Submitted graphic)
